Guns N’ Roses were warned that if they took the stage late at Friday night’s Reading Festival in England then they would be cut off due to local curfew laws. Well, the band came on an hour tardy and, as promised, they were forced to end their set at midnight. The event’s organizers pulled the plugs on the rockers but that didn’t stop the music. Even though they didn’t have power, the group still performed “Paradise City” with no instruments and with Axl Rose singing through a megaphone. GN’R are mad at the promoters but, in a Twitter post, guitarist D.J. Ashba stated, “They pulled the power, but failed to kill the connection as 90-thousand people sang ‘Paradise City.’”

Bassist Bob Daisley, who played with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Gary Moore and Uriah Heep, among others, has posted rare video footage of Rainbow, shot just before the release of the Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll album in 1978. Daisley posted the video to honor the memory of Ronnie James Dio, shown in the videos,  arguably,  at his peak.

A couple of tunes here, for your dining and dancing pleasure:

Gibson.com Readers Poll – Top 25 Frontmen (and Frontwomen)
With their votes, the Gibson.com readers crowned Freddie Mercury the Queen of all Frontmen. While many of the readers’ choices are reflected in the overall list, a few didn’t make the cut – Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Metallica’s James Hetfield, KISS’s Paul Stanley and the late, great Ronnie James Dio.
And at least one choice caught the Gibson.com editorial staff off-guard. Who knew that the readers had this much love for Jim Kerr of Simple Minds? You certainly took his advice and didn’t forget about him.

The Book “Eat Pray Love” was tremendous. And with my Julia Roberts in the movie, I can not control myself!! Author and funny wise guy Andrew Gottlieb has written the male version. “Drink, Play, F*#K” The plot? It “tells the fictional story of Bob Sullivan, a man who, seeking solace after his wife leaves him….” Same as the chick lit but he does what a DUDE would do under such circumstances. Drink, play and bone of course! good reading.
