I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been in radio so long…seen so many great shows…heard so many great bands – but it seems to be getting harder and harder to find bands/music that really excite/s me.  With the exception of Silvertide (a great band from Philly you’ve probably never heard of…), and their phenomenal CD “Show and Tell”, it’s been years since I’ve found an album that I can listen to all the way through…over and over.  Well, the drought is over.  The band is The Parlor Mob, and the CD is “And You Were A Crow”.  The album is over a year old, and I’m amazed I didn’t hear a single song from the album on any local “new music” station.  As a matter of fact, if it weren’t for TV, I would have missed this one altogether…

Laying on the couch Sunday night, I was sitting through the latest episode in what looks to be a lame season of Entourage.  The show was over <yawn>, and I was getting up to fix a snack when I heard THIS INCREDIBLE SONG playing over the credits.  Was that a young Robert Plant?  Was that an old Zeppelin song I’d never heard?  No…but, but it sure sounded like Zeppelin might have sounded if Bobby and Jimmy were 22 today.  Of course, they don’t list the music on the credits, so I had to dig, and dig, and dig to come up with the artist and the song.  Finally, I found it.  The song was “Can’t Keep No Good Boy Down”, and the band was…you guessed it!  The Parlor Mob…a bunch of kids from Jersey.  I picked up the album, thinking If it only had that ONE song on it, it was worth a few bucks.  But as it turns out, the whole thing is pretty damn good.  No.  Really damn good.  Zep meets AC/DC meets Blind Melon.  If you get a chance, check out “Can’t Keep…”, “Everything You’re Breathing For”, or “Tide of Tears”.  Those songs give me the same chills I got when I first heard Zeppelin 3.  Really.

Check out an acoustic version of “Everything You’re Breathing For”

Beatles Rock Band

Posted in: Kat

Grief is a wierd thing. There is no rule book on how to do it. For my first blog after sadness I thought writing about the band that says “all you need is love” would be a good. The Beatles- Rock Band will be available in all fine electronic boutiques on 09/09/09. It’s the biggest music game in history now with the biggest rock band in history. Sir Paul finally caved and gave permission. Realizing the dollar amount he will make can not be refused. Not to mention the millions of happy fans. You’ll be able to part of the band! With fab 4 extras, rare recordings and unseen photos from the Beatles archives. The play list is massive. Everything Beatles. And it’s true, all you need IS love…and Rock Band Beatles.

I am not a widow

Posted in: Kat

So what am I called now? There is no word for the girlfriend. My wonderful, loving boyfriend of almost 3 years passed away late Friday night July 3, 2009. He was surrounded by all who loved him. I am honored, grateful and thankful he loved me. And I will thank him everyday for the rest of my life for that. Please workforce, grab the ones you love and make sure they know you love them everyday. Watch over me Todd. I love you always.
