Jimmy Page believes that the band is right for a tour, but it won’t happen until at least September, which is the earliest that singer Robert Plant would be available. Plant is kicking off a world tour with bluegrass singer Alison Krauss, (the two will be performing at Jazzfest), to promote their album Raising Sand.
It’s no secret that I’m a dumb ass Yankee, but what you may not know is that this will be my first ever Mardis Gras. Despite all the things that I’ve been told, I don’t think of Mardis Gras as something you can prepare for – you just have to experience it.
I am open to any helpful tips you might want to offer a Mardi Gras noob though, so feel free to leave ‘em in the comments!
But don’t expect any Zeppelin tunes. Plant is touring with bluegrass singer Alison Krauss, as the duo promote their Raising Sand CD.
In a post on nola.com, Times-Picayune music writer Keith Spera writes,
“Robert Plant’s fondness for New Orleans music dates to his youth in England. In Led Zeppelin’s heyday, Plant and his bandmates hosted parties in New Orleans with such local favorites as Professor Longhair, Earl King and Snooks Eaglin. In April 2007, Plant spent a week in south Louisiana to record songs for the Tipitina’s Foundation benefit CD “Goin’ Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino.”
Plant specifically instructed his booking agent, Davis said, to include Jazzfest in his and bluegrass star Alison Krauss’ spring tour in support of their joint “Raising Sand” CD. The disc includes a cover of “Fortune Teller,” written by Allen Toussaint under his pen name of Naomi Neville.”

Also, there’s been no updates from Led Zeppelin about playing any future shows. The band is slated to have a meeting this month to discuss the future – whatever that means.
